         <description><![CDATA[<div>In 1928, Nelson graduated with a degree in architecture, he studied architecture at Yale University. Then in 1929, Nelson was hired as a Teacher's Assistant while pursuing his second bachelor's degree at Yale. He also ran for, and won the contest ‘Rome Prize’, the prize consisted of two years at the American Academy in Rome&nbsp;with all the expenses covered, the ideal solution to the lack of work during those years.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Around 1932, Nelson married with Farances Hollister at Rome. After Nelson received a degree in Fine Arts, he won the Rome Prize in 1932 while preparing for the Paris Prize competition. In 1935, Nelson joined Architectural Forum, where he was first associate editor, and later consulting editor. George Nelson had drawn popular attention with several innovative concepts, in his post-war book: ‘Tomorrow's House’, which he wrote in 1940. During this period George Nelson spent a great deal of time interviewing and exchanging ideas with the other founders of the modernist architecture movement of the 1940s.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>In 1950, Nelson became interested in exhibition design and concentrated on urban design problems. Then, he incorporated into George Nelson Associates, Inc., and moved to 251 Park Avenue South. During that, Nelson enacted new practices for the involvement of design in all aspects of the company, pioneering the practice of corporate image management, graphic programs, and signage for 25 years (1955-1980). In 1959, he remarried with Jacqueline Griffiths. In the same year, he served as the lead designer for the American National Exhibition in Moscow. After that, Herman Miller created the Herman Miller Research Corporation under the direction of Robert Propst, and the supervision of George Nelson.</div>]]></description>

He designed the exhibition, “Hand Tools USA”, held in the USSR by the USIA in 1966. He also designed another USIA exhibit in the USSR ; “Industrial Design USA”.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>In 1970, Nelson sent a letter to Robert Blaich, who had become Herman Miller's Vice-President for Corporate Design and Communication, in which he described the system's "dehumanizing effect as a working environment”. Then, received a grant from the Graham foundation for his project "Hidden Cities". In 1983, he planned the installation of the exhibition, "Design Since 1945," organized by Katherine Hiesinger that opened at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. In the next year, he became a scholar at the Cooper-Hewitt Museum. Last, George Nelson died in New York at the age of 77 in 1986.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>In 1941, Nelson designed several private homes, including a New York town house for Sherman Fairchild (together with William Hamby). After that, Nelson became co-managing editor of Architectural Forum with Henry Wright and wrote an article in the Saturday Evening Post, "Grass on Main Street," that introduced the concept of pedestrian malls, in 1943. The first Herman Miller catalog produced by Nelson was released in 1945. Over the following years it would include some of the most iconic home furnishings of the 20th century. From 1946 until 1972, Nelson was director of design at Herman Miller. While that, he opened a design studio in New York City in 1947.</div>]]></description>
