TITLE : MALNUTRITION

Child death is a concerning issues nowadays. Hunger and undernourished children are often link to extreme poverty and lack of access to available, sufficient and nutritious food. This usually happen in many undeveloped countries such as Africa and East Asia. With no nutritious food and clean water, it will affect children's health and eventually they die. The number of children's death increasing every year and its devastated.

As a concerned citizen, i am very concern with the people’s health and well-being inside or outside of my country.

Nowadays, there are a lot of cases in many undeveloped countries involving poverty, malnutrition, extreme hunger, and undernourished. There are 821 million people estimated to be chronically undernourished in 2017 only.

Around the world, more than 780 million people live in poverty. This is make these people impossible to keep a good health. This will affect growing children. Estimated 104 million children under 5 are living in extreme poverty, while that numbers extended to 328 million for children under 18 ( World Bank, 2016). Poverty can lead to hunger. Children suffer the most when living in the poverty. Since they live without proper food, without clean water and even no health care, this will effect their health especially children. At least 17 million children suffer from severe malnutrition around the world ( United Nation). A lot of children under 5 die from illnesses like diarrhea, dysentry and cholera caused by contaminated water and inadequate sanitation (Sub-Saharan, Africa). Children that live in poverty also face a barriers to access a quality education. They do not have a school to go, even the teacher did not have a proper training to help the children learn effectively ( Gaza City, 2018). Children’s access to education can be limited by many factors such as language barriers, gender roles, reliance on child labor and even disabilities. They are most likely to miss out of school.

In my opinion to end this problem, I as a concerned citizen will get my friends together to help the effected people by donating to the UNICEF so that they can help the poor people. This way, they will provide them with knowledge on how to grow their own food so that they can keep a good health. I can also gather lots of people to help the children to have a proper education by providing them a school and trained educator so that they can complete their schooling and along the way they can end their poverty. By providing them the knowledge and assistance, they can get out of their poverty and have a better life.

ISSUE : Violence against women and girls

Violence against women and girls is one of the severe and devastating violation of basic human rights in our world today. Violence against women and girls can be in the form of emotional abuse, harmful practices like human trafficking, early forced marriage, domestic violence and etc.

Women do 2.6 times as many as the unpaid care and household duties as men do. Even women that are educated when they enter the workplace, they hit discrimination. They are paid less than men, have less employment opportunities and have fewer property ownership. Currently only 27 percent of senior business posts are held by women.

All violence against women is caused by gender inequality, SDG 5 is related to this issue which is Gender Equality. The impact of violence against women and girls was recognised by the SDG and aim to end discrimination against women and girls everywhere. It is reported that violence against women and girls and other harmful behaviours are pervasive and are rooted in gender inequality of power and resources.

In my opinion, I think it is necessary to enact and enforce legislation and introduce policies that encourage gender equality in order to achieve lasting change. This issue can be solved by eliminating gender disparity and ensuring equal access in education, recognising and valuing unpaid care and domestic work carried out by women, recognise domestic violence as a crime and marital rape is abusive behaviour and developing and resourcing national plans and policies to address violence against women.

These kind of cases costs developing countries 1.26 trillion per year.

The cases happened because of the rule of law does not apply in many developing countries, so the poor are often exploited by the powerful .Under these circumstances, corruption and bribery are every day facts that hinder socioeconomic development (Burma, 1962). High unemployment rates among women have forced many of them into prostitution while others are victims of sex trafficking (Burma, 1962). The armed conflict undermines human well-being and reduces the ability of society to achieve sustainable development (Upper Nile State, South Sudan, 2014). Armed conflict affect society’s peace, justice, good health and well -being. There are also injustice behavior, some western firms pay bribes just to win contracts and contribute to continuing corruption (Kenny, 2007). From these problems, there are 13 million refugees (2014) according to the UN agencies.

In my opinion, for the people to live in peace and harmony country without corruption, bribery, theft and tax evasion in the future, I as a concerned citizen will get my friends together and sponsor the poor girls to complete their schooling to improve the quality education since there are certain developing countries are practicing gender inequalities by marginalizing the rights of women. The superiors need to reduce inequalities because when the girls become women, they will play their important role as a concerned citizen for the country and they will have the opportunity to press for equal rights for their family. They also will able to earn money and at once, reduce the hunger level in the countries. I also will donate once a month to www.namati.org or other similar charity. This will slowly reduce the amount of poverty in a developing country. By joining a pressure group to demand action on this issue also could help to strengthen institutions and build capacity to prevent violence, terrorism, crime for the sake of people’s peace and justice.
