Recombinant DNA technology is an extremely important research tool in biology. It allows scientists to manipulate DNA fragments in order to study them in the lab. It involves using a variety of laboratory methods to put a piece of DNA into a bacterial or yeast cell. Once in, the bacteria or yeast will copy the DNA along with its own. Recombinant DNA technology has been successfully applied to make important proteins used in the treatment of human diseases, such as insulin and growth hormone.used in Agriculture to produce genetically-modified organisms such as Flavr Savr tomatoes, golden rice rich in proteins, and Bt-cotton to protect the plant against ball worms and a lot more. In the field of medicines, Recombinant DNA technology is used for the production of Insulin.

Hamda Mohammed 11[ENI]53

A laboratory technique called polymerase chain reaction, or PCR for short, is used to quickly create millions to billions of copies of a particular DNA segment in order to study it in more detail. In PCR, a section of the genome to be amplified is chosen using short synthetic DNA fragments known as primers. That segment is then amplified using multiple rounds of DNA synthesis.
