Final conclusion:

First thing I have to say as a main conclusion, after completing my 2nd course project, is that, as it happenned in the 1st year of the GEP, it's been a very interesting work to do. Not only the contents treated and the advice received have been interesting and very helpful for a good implementation, but also the interaction with the two teachers has been perfect through all the term. They helped us a lot while preparing the PBL, and also for getting ideas.
There's been a lot of work to do, and it is still very difficult to combine it with work at school. But, when you are finishing the work, and specially, when you are implementing what you desgned in class, with direct contact and interaction with the pupils, then you realise it has really been worth...
After these two years working on these projects, helping the pupils using and improving their English use in class, I think that for them, the best way to do it is by working in groups most of the time. No matter if in a cooperative group or in a collaborative one. When they work in gorup they loose their fear to fail, and they feel more confident to talk and express their own ideas. They start using English as a communicative tool less afraid of making mistakes. And, when they listen the ones to the others, they really feel they can take the risk, and try. It is always easier to start "talking" in a small group than in front of all the class.
And, the more the pupils feel confident, the more they try, again and again.
We can help our pupils feel more comfortable with the use of English by designing activities to be done in groups, and in which they can express their ideas and opinions. If we achieve this objective, we can obtain a better result and, what is more important, they'll be learning English by enjoying it!

They are deciding how to create a poster for showing the water cycle process: where does water come from and where it goes. First, some of them are completing the definitions of the water process. And then, some are drawing
the different steps of the process. Finally, they proceed to stick the labels with the names and definitions on the poster.

This dynamic consists on doing several maths combined operations to get a number, and with that number, they can join in different groups. After the explanations, we see how the pupils join in groups after solving each operation.

The PBL presentation below is a four session planning about the same topic: water, as maybe the most important resource for human beign survival. For that reason it is titled: "Water…..more than gold". It is a Project designed for being implemented with the pupils in the Final Cycle of Primary Education.
In each session designed in the PBL template the interest is focused on different aspects about wáter: from the origin of water, making them think about it as a neverending resource, or not. Also working on water problems or disasters caused by water. And ending by making them think about how to save water, how to make a better use of it.

Description of the school:

Our school is located in what we call a "rural area". And this aspect makes the school different from regular schools, because it is a very small school, placed in a very small village called Lavern. This village is also placed in the Penedès area, included in a bigger municipality called Subirats, also including two other villages called Sant Pau d'Ordal and Ordal. Till this year, the three schools of this municipality have been joined into what the Department calls a "zer", which means "schools in rural areas". And this consists on three schools, with its own personality each one, but sharing many projects and activities all along the term.
Our village, Lavern, has got a population around 200 inhabitants. And, this school year, the numbers of pupils in the school is 90.
So, what makes the main difference when comparing our school to regular schools, is that the class groups are smaller, and joining both levels of a cycle together.
