TECHNOLOGY - on the other hand, is the application of scientific knowledge to create practical solutions, products, and processes that improve human life. In my view, technology is a tool that helps us solve real-world problems, making our lives easier, faster, and more convenient.

SOCIETY - refers to the group of people who share common culture, values, and institutions. It's the community we live in, with its own set of rules, norms, and expectations. Society is shaped by the interactions and relationships among individuals, groups, and institutions.

DESCRIBE THE RELATIONSHIP OF THE SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY AND SOCIETY

The relationship between Science, Technology, and Society is complex and interdependent. In my opinion, science informs technology, which in turn impacts society. However, society also influences science and technology, shaping the direction of research and innovation. This creates a feedback loop, where scientific discoveries lead to technological innovations, which then shape societal values and priorities, and so on.

2. Impact of Science and Technology on National Growth

Science and technology play a crucial role in driving economic growth, improving living standards, and enhancing national competitiveness. They enable countries to develop new industries, create jobs, and increase productivity (World Bank, 2019). Science and technology also help nations address pressing challenges such as climate change, poverty, and inequality. By investing in science and technology, countries can build a strong foundation for sustainable development and improve the quality of life for their citizens.

3. Role of STS Students as Guardians of Society

As students of Science, Technology, and Society (STS), we have a critical role to play in ensuring that science and technology are developed and used in ways that benefit society as a whole. We can act as guardians of society by promoting responsible innovation, advocating for policies that prioritize social and environmental welfare, and engaging in public debates about the ethics of science and technology.

For example, students can participate in initiatives such as the "Right to Repair" movement, which advocates for consumers' right to repair their own electronic devices rather than relying on manufacturers (iFixit, 2020). By supporting such initiatives, STS students can help promote sustainable consumption patterns, reduce electronic waste, and protect consumers' rights.

BRAIN GAIN PROGRAM, I’d create a system that encourages Filipino scientists abroad to come back and work here. The government will offer tax breaks, housing, and research grants for them so they can contribute their knowledge to our own countnex. To me, this law is about having faith in Filipino talent. We keep on saying we're "world-class," so let's make a system that actually believes and invests in our own scientists, inventors, and thinkers. It's not about catching up with the world it's about leading the world in our own way.

These five inventions represent Filipino ingenuity and impactful contributions to various fields. The invention mentioned were chosen because they represent a blend of groundbreaking contributions, practical solutions to everyday problems, and a commitment to improving lives through science and technology. They demonstrate the diverse talents and innovative spirit of Filipino inventors.

-To me, a good life is one of finding peace in the little things having a sense of direction, being surrounded by loved ones, and waking up every morning with something to anticipate. It's not being rich or flawless, but content, growing at my own speed, and remaining who I am. A good life is also about having the means to give back, to brighten up someone else's day even in a small way, and feeling like I count for something in this world. It's about the equilibrium between dreaming big and being grateful for what I already possess.

To what extent do scientific advancement impact your idea of good life?

-Scientific progress contributes a great deal to my concept of a good life, but it's not the sole contributor. I like how science makes life easier, safer, and healthier such as having access to improved healthcare, quicker communication, and solutions to common problems. These certainly enhance quality of life and provide us with more time and liberty to do what we want. But concurrently, I feel a good life isn't purely technological or about progress. It's still human connection, meaning, and peace within. Science contributes to building the foundation, but it's how we employ it meaningfully and wisely that truly improves life.

How can you achieve good life?

-I believe that I can live a good life by being loyal to my values and not losing focus on what truly makes me happy. It's all about balance working hard towards my goals, yet knowing when to stop and enjoy the little things. I don't need to have it all together, but I want to continue growing, learning, and being around people who make me better. A good life, in my opinion, also stems from being kind to others and to myself. I think that the way I treat people and the way I deal with problems defines the kind of life I live. If I can live on purpose, remain humble, and continue to make choices that feel right for me, then I know I'm on the right track.
