Our teachers really enjoyed that we divided them into teams of 3 or 4 based on their responses to the Multiple Intelligences survey. We gave each team a task based on their preferences. What also worked was that each of our presenters shared our own experiences with Tiered Lessons and Questioning, and we gave the teachers some time to work with each other to come up with ideas and strategies they could implement the following week.

DDC Team,

I felt like a proud little mom (LOL) when I heard what a fantastic job you guys did with your staff PD. Your administrators had great things to say about your presentations and it sounds like some groups injected some fun and humor into the process. I wish I could have been there to see each one of you. I know you have to present again in March and don't worry, you will be well prepared. Between now and my next round of visits (in January) I will continue adding resources and "things of interest" to our google folder. When I make big deposits of "new stuff" I will alert you via email.

Keep the fire lit for differentiation anytime you can. Like Scarlet said, this isn't a topic that can be brought up in October and left alone until March. When opportunity presents itself, email your colleagues with articles or helpful tools you come across. This will help to keep differentiated practice at the forefront of their minds and it supports the foundation you've already laid.

Again, great job last week team!!!

Michelle

Our team presented the differences between gifted and above average learners, and characteristics of gifted learners. We gave information about tiered assignments and let them work together with their grade level on a tiered assignment. We presented information about the Socratic Method and used the story "the Lady or the Tiger" which they enjoyed. They voted unanimously for the the tiger! We gave information on multiple intelligences and we let them take the Style Delineator test. They really enjoyed that! Overall it was a positive experience.
