This was a very funny story about the life of Patton Oswalt and his journey to becoming a comedian and memories from summers in his teen life. The author added a unique aspect to the book called footnotes that show what he is thinking in certain moments and revisions to his writing. This book has a lot of inappropriate humor and unique moments.

This was a good short read. It was a world war 2 story. A man in the Air Force named Frank Williams. While in a prison camp, he befriends a loyal dog named Judy. The two grew into a deep friendship as prisoners of war. Overall this was an interesting story about WWII and I would recommend it.

The novel "Sula" is about two African American women, Sula and Nel, in the town of Medallion, Ohio. Despite their different personalities, Sula and Nel become very good friends during their childhood. They go through many hardships as friends facing racism and judgment. This book was very challenging because it presented complicated themes and symbols such as binary thinking between good and bad. Overall I did not enjoy it that much because I am not very interested in this type of book.

The novel, "Devil At My Heels" by Louis Zamperini is a beautiful memoir. The author shares his experiences as a U.S. Olympian, World War II veteran, and prisoner of war survivor. This book is an incredible story of his life, even in his early troubled childhood and his experiences lost at sea. I loved this story because Zamperini was able to forgive the Japanese soldiers that tortured him as a prisoner of war. His faith in God helped him overcome his trauma from the war. I really appreciated the message of this book and thought it was remarkable.

"Make Your Bed" by Admiral William H. McRaven was a motivating message about how it is the small, everyday tasks can have a significant impact on someone's life. Even the feeling of completing small goals can motivate you to reach larger ones. This book was helpful for writing my motivational speech.

He goes into greater detail about the lessons he learned from being an Olympic runner and Army soldier.

This book was another way I got to read about soldier stories from World War 2. This book was very inspiring and had me at the edge of my seat the whole time. This is similar to Louis Zamperini's story as a POW in Asia. It really shows how much people can in endure and fight through in order to save their life.

This story was really interesting to me. It portrayed the relationship between Father and son. David Gilmore shares about how he allowed his son to drop out of high school. Instead of the usual type of education, they agree to watch three movies a week together. Through this, David teaches Jesse important lessons in life. I love the heartfelt conversations they shared and the movies they talked about. I was able to relate to it in my own way.
