Malaria is a serious disease and it is spread by the bite of an infected mosquito. There are no vaccines against malaria therefore people have to be very careful and protect themselves from mosquitos because malaria can end deadly.
Wild animals such as dogs, monkeys, birds and bats are also a problem because they can spread infections like rabies.
In some areas of South Africa the water and food can carry diseases like cholera for example which is why the people in these areas have to boil the water and cook the food because they will get sick otherwise which is also a huge problem. Crimes occour mostly at night and it is especially dangerous in for example Berea and the beachfront and Victoria wharf in Durban. There is also a high risk of pickpocketing.

•There is limited research into rape targeting women who have sex with women.
•One study across four Southern African countries, including South Africa, found that 31.1% of women reported having experienced forced sex.
•Male victims of rape are another under-studied group. One survey in KwaZulu-Natal and the Eastern Cape found that 9.6% of men reported having experienced sexual victimisation by another man.
