The Great Sphinx of Giza is a massive limestone statue depicting a mythical creature with the body of a lion and the head of a human, likely a pharaoh. It stands on the Giza Plateau in Egypt, near the pyramids, and is one of the largest and oldest monumental sculptures in the world. What interests me is that the statue must depict something. Because most statues are always based on something. It's important because of the huge lead it gives on the lives of these people.

The Cyrus Cylinder is a very old and important clay artifact. It looks like a small, round barrel and has special writing all over it. This cylinder was made a long, long time ago, around 539 BCE, by a powerful king named Cyrus the Great from Persia.

The writing on it tells how King Cyrus took over the city of Babylon. What makes it special is that it says he let people who were forced to leave their homes go back. He also said he would respect their religions and ways of life. Many people believe this shows some of the first ideas about human rights in history. You can see this amazing piece of history at the British Museum today.

The Nebra Sky Disk was unearthed by a group of treasure hunters using a metal detector around July 1999. It was found at the Mittelberg hill, near the town of Nebra in the Ziegelroda Forest. (SIDE NOTE: It was illegally excavated.)

The disk shows the crescent moon, a sun or full moon, three arcs, and 23 stars scattered around at random. X-rays have reportedly revealed two more stars underneath the gold of the right arc. The Nebra Sky Disk is approximately 3600 years old, which means it was made around 1600 BCE. 1600 BCE was the European Bronze Age. The disk is said to have a 32cm diameter.

The Nebra Sky Disk shows that Bronze Age people tracked lunar and solar positions. The disk might have been used to synchronize solar and lunar calendars, something probably thought beyond the Bronze Age people’s capability!

Stuff that I'd like to add (TW: informal)

When it was first unearthed by the treasure hunters, the artifact was sold off of the black market.. :/

In 2002, the Swiss police with the German authorities, recovered the disk during a sting operation, yippeeee!

It is worth (estimated) $11.. MILLION, YES, 11 MILLION DOLLARS, US DOLLARS.

It is currently held in the State Museum of Prehistory in Halle, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany.

It supposedly has a missing pair, the pair of the Nebra Sky Disk is out there somewhere, waiting to be found. (Don't even try to go treasure hunting thinking you'll find it, again it's ILLEGAL, probably.)

The Antikythera Mechanism, discovered in 1901 in a shipwreck off the coast of Antikythera, Greece, is a complex ancient Greek device dating back to the 1st century BCE. Its intricate system of gears and dials was used to predict astronomical events, such as eclipses and the movements of planets. Often called the world's oldest known analog computer, its sophisticated design and functionality remain remarkable and continue to fascinate scientists and historians. The mechanism's significance lies in its demonstration of advanced ancient Greek knowledge of astronomy and engineering, far surpassing what was previously believed possible during that era. Its complex workings are still being studied and deciphered.

The United States Declaration of Independence. The declaration of Independence, was the unanimous declaration of Independence of the United states of America on July 4, 1776, it was adopted by the Second Continental Congress, The declaration explained why the thirteen colonies regarded themselves as sovereign, no longer subjected to British rule. Why it is still important today: The Declaration of Independence still stands today as one of the world's most important human artifacts. On July 4, 1776, It was adopted by the Second Continental Congress. The Declaration of Independence was crucial because it severed ties with the British and their control. Allowing the newly independent states to form alliances, trade, etc. It articulated the basic principles of equality and inviolable rights. Which still shapes American culture to this day. The newly independent states, now able to freely determine their own future, can now pursue their interests and goals without British rule and interference. To this day, the Declaration of Independence of the United States of America is one of the world's most important artifacts ever made.

In 1911, the late Hiram Bingham III, a Yale University professor, rediscovered the site. Until then, the ancient ruins had escaped the notice of Spanish conquistadors and settlers. Many archaeologists believe Machu Picchu was once the royal estate of Pachacuti Inca Yupanqui, an Inca ruler from the 14th century.

It was a torn page of the book Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam, specifically, a famous Persian book. It was labeled, Tamam Shud, which is the last page of the book, and in that page were handwritten codes which is largely unsolved, even today.

What make this important in history is that this handwritten code could have something that could change history possibly forever. After solving this mystery, one of Australia's biggest ever case.
