Education: University Of Plymouth - Junior Academy funding tutoring for 12-16 year olds aiming for BA(Hons) Music Degree

The Junior Academy provides instrumental music lessons and theory tuition for 12–16 year olds from the most experienced teachers in the South West of England. Members of the Junior Academy achieving the requisite standards will be en route to an unconditional offer for the BA (Hons) Music degree at the University of Plymouth where the music entry requirements are Grade 8 instrumental and Grade 5 music theory. Accomplished members who are close to achieving the required grades may also be considered for an unconditional offer.

Internships: 40hr Internships for University of Plymouth Students from School of Society and Culture

40-hour internships (suggested format is between 4-8 hours per week but can be negotiated with successful intern).
Late September - January (duration of 1^st round).
Students paid and committed.
Internships agreement will need signing by org's, agreeing to mentor intern.
Subject specific or generic tasks / internships are all considered for funding.
SoSC students are (English, Creative Writing, Music, Music tech, History, Art History, Sociology, Law, Criminology, Professional Policing, Anthropology, Politics, International Relations). Please note: Students from outside the school may be offered internships that require special skills that SoSC do not possess. These are usually offered when the inclusion of the out of SoSC student means that a SoSC gets to also be a part of the internship. For instance, we funded a student from education to complete a team of 3 peer educators, (3 interns were necessary and we only recruited 2, which meant that the project would not be able to go ahead without a 3rd).

Our Legal Aid legal service

Our legal team can help you if you are eligible for Legal Aid, for example, if you need to go to court about a housing problem or to challenge a council’s homelessness decision.

To speak to the legal team you will need to make an appointment. To make an appointment with the legal team in Plymouth, please call 0344 515 1880 between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday. This number is for new legal appointments only.

What we do

forum Youth Work

You and your youth worker will work together, to build a relationship and get to know one another. Your youth worker will give you the chance to talk face-to-face, listen to what’s important to you, and do the things you like to do e.g. doing fun activities. The people you live with can be part of this, if you want them to be.

person Personal plan

You and your youth worker will work together to make a plan around what you need help with, and what you want to change in your life. Your plan can be made any way you want e.g. with drawings, or voice recordings.

edit_document Financial support

Help can be available to support your plan and help you achieve your goals. Your youth worker will work with you, to ensure your goals are sustainable long-term.

Ahimsa Inside Out Tear-off Flyer

Inside Out is a special program for young people in Plymouth, for those who are exhibiting harmful behaviours in the lives towards intimate partners or parents. We are ready to help them recognise and make changes to those behaviours in a way that is suitable for them.

The program is funded for those living in the Plymouth area and this is an opportunity for them to receive help without having a financial impact on them or their families.

We are in a position to offer this support to those within the 16 - 25 year old age bracket.

If you have young people that you would like to refer for this service or any questions please contact Ahimsa Inside Out on the details below and I will send a Referral form to you for completion or you may provide details to the young person for self-referral.
