Vincent Willem Van Gogh was born on 30 March 1853 in Groot Zundert and had, due to his extreme sensitivity as an artist, a very tormented.
Son of a Protestant pastor, while still living in Zundert, Vincent made his first drawings. Instead, schools in Zevenbergen begin. Learn French, English, German and for the first time start painting.
After completing his studies, he went to work as a clerk in the branch of the Parisian art house Goupil and Cie, later in the headquarters of the Hague (where he frequently visits local museums), London and Paris. In May 1875 he was definitively transferred to Paris.

The transfer to the French city, where his brother Theo already resides, marks the beginning of the French period, interrupted only by a brief trip to Antwerp at the end of that year. Much of his time is spent along with his brother and the two, from that moment, begin a correspondence that will last a lifetime and which still represents the best way to study Vincent's opinions, feelings, mood and painting.

The Sunflowers are a series of oil paintings on canvas between 1888 and 1889 by the painter Vincent van Gogh. Among the painter's favorite subjects, they are today among his most recognizable and well-known works among the general public. When referring to the Sunflowers by Vincent van Gogh, it does not indicate a single painting, but rather a series of eleven canvases. The first four were painted in Paris in 1887 (Paris Series). While the following seven in Arles (Arles Series). The paintings are shown in English as Sunflowers and in French Tournesols. These are two series of still lifes.
