 “a room or a space immediately below the roof of a building” 

        As in- My attic is a place I never go. it’s pretty dark and the slats are cracking slightly and my dad first noticed it.
As in- The last time my dad went up there he noticed that the wood was splitting. The nails weren't nailed in right and It doesn’t look built right like words not put in the right order

As in- The lights don't work right. There’s splinters on the wooden beams like they are about to fall into the garden of darkness below. The place to stand is pretty small like the walls are closing in. The ladder that leads up to the attic is breaking and creaking like it has been used for a thousand years. The attic is a forest of no light and no care and up there, light is swallowed by the spirits of darkness that I never thought could exist like the light used to dance across the floor then boom, when you finally get used to it and least expect it, it’s just gone.

I was jumping waves carelessly when

my feet stopped touching the 

sandy floor and I

looked behind me to see 

that I was a million miles 

from the shore.

I tried to swim back but the

rip current just kept pulling

me away from the shore.

I couldn’t understand why

it looked like I was swimming

in place.

Maybe I spent too much energy 

trying to stay afloat.

Each time I swam back up,

the waves slapped me under the

water and I started panicking.

I screamed “HELP!” until my

that saved my life but he was

nowhere to be found and he was gone,

They are adorable in so many ways,

For how great they are, they deserve much more praise!

Anytime I see them, I’m filled with delight

Everyone should agree that they are a work of art,
