Nick is not my favorite Character.

Nick, the main character is not the most interesting character. Nick does not have any significant relationships in the story so far except for his cousin. Nick so far has not provided anything to hook me into the story. I have no reason to care for him. I might even argue he is a bit cold. Nick is ordinary but not in a way that is relatable. "In my younger and more vulnerable years my father gave me some advice that I’ve been turning over in my mind ever since. ‘Whenever you feel like criticizing any one,’ he told me, ‘just remember that all the people in this world haven’t had the advantages that you’ve had.’ This is probably the most interesting thing about the main character because it reveals a bit about his past and upbringing. However although a relatable does not make him likeable or relatable at least in my opinion.

Rosy colored is mentioned which is like pink which is a mixture of red and white. Wedding cakes are usually white. And wine is red like the "wine colored rug".

Jordan looks down upon the clumsy people. The fact she looks down upon them means she thinks she is better because of her higher social class. However social class does not determine the quality of the person. Social class is important in the story and even in real life because a higher social class allows you to get away with certain things.

Gatsby is introduced as a stranger despite being the main subject of the book. It makes me take back my thoughts about nick being boring. Nick is the eyes in which we see the story so having him be boring is not actually too bad. We know Gadsby gets more of a spotlight later on but I feel like this part really emphasizes how important 3rd parties are to stories like this so that you can see what the story view is from an outside prospective.

Text to self
This book is about the American dream. I do not believe in the American dream as people are generally limited by many things. If I end up becoming successful in life I wanna use my money to help people in need with the knowledge that not everyone can be what they want. I guess I wish the American dream was possible and people who worked hard get what they deserve. However this is not really the case and that is why this book hits pretty close to me

Text to Text
These ideas actually remind me of the last book we read. This is because they both happened during the roaring 20s and both give a critique of the American dream. Both books shared the general idea about oppression in society. Both books are really good I feel being able to talk about important issues like this. The brilliant thing about Gatsby though is unlike a raisin in the sun the focus is actually rich people, to show that dreams in general are just scams. Both are messages I agree with and I personally think the American dream is just propaganda that people can cling to for a false sense of "I will get there eventually" Like the green light in Gatsby however, it is not obtainable for everyone.

Text to World
The text relates the world in the sense of talking about society. As a whole we humans need something to cling onto to drive us forward. If we lose that we arguably lose what makes us human. However an unhealthy amount of dreaming can lead to impossible expectations as seen with Gatsby and I feel that is what the author was trying to show. It is a brilliant story that should be remembered.
