The roads helped them with trading and communication with the rest of the empire. Another thing was the Arches. The arches were very strong. they used arches for their aqueducts. One other thing they used were aqueducts. They were used to transport fresh water for public baths, fountains and households. A dome is similar to the hollow upper half of a spear. Domes were are used a lot on government buildings. Romans also used the coliseum. A coliseum is a large theater or stadium. Coliseums were used for hosted events such as gladiator games. Another thing the Romans used is columns. they got this idea from the greeks. The greeks built most of their temples and government buildings with columns. We can see that our government was impacted by the Romans with our branches of government. As a republic they elected their leaders. Laws protected citizens of the republic. Some citizens held more rights, for example, men held more rights than women. Romans acquired  wealth by using their military and  taking from "barbarians". This would later lead to the downfall of Rome due to the "barbarian" tribes invading. Our current government is modeled after the Roman's government. Rome's goals were to become rich and powerful. So they took land resources and made people slaves on the land they conquered . A lot of people had no rights and were not being treated fairly which were slaves. Part of the reason that the Roman art depicted Greek style was because many greek artists were enslaved and not given credit for their work. Portrait bust and sculptures could be seen in the middle class homes but primarily in catacomb. Many famous buildings in Rome are considered art. Romans were fond of columns and often sculpted directly on the columns . Roman art includes paintings. Fresca paintings are a technique in which the paint is laid wet lime plaster.
