Is it dangerous to inhale helium? Yes! You may think it was safe because you see many people do it for fun. Every time you inhale helium you are not breathing oxygen. Whatever you do, never inhale helium especially from a high-pressure tank!! It can cause serious lung damage and you could end up with bubbles of helium in the arteries that can travel to your brain. If this happens it can lead to a stroke and possibly death.

Helium is a natural gas. It is a simple element and you can find an abundance of it in the universe. However, it is rare to find on Earth. The symbol for helium is He and the atomic number is 2. It is named after the Sun and the Greek word 'helios' because the Sun has lots of helium in it.

It is the only element that does not turn solid. Helium is lighter than other gas other than hydrogen. It is non-toxic and not flammable.
