Third Reading of Listening Section

For Grades 3-8 English Language Arts Tests or the Regents Comprehensive Examination in English, students usually get read a prompt twice. However, it can be requested that proctors can read the listening section again (for a third time) for ELLs.

Simultaneous Use of English and Alternative Language Editions

On State exams (for which the Department provides written translations), ELLs may use both English and another language simultaneously to answer questions. However, all responses must be recorded in English only.

Oral Translation for Lower-Incidence Languages

ELLs may be provided a spoken translation of the State examination when there is no translated provided by the department. All translations must be oral.
