Summary: Andy Ramos describes the steps it takes to becoming a commercial electrician. From getting your high school diploma to your final step, getting your certification or license.

Reflection: On this webpage I discovered that apprenticeships or training will only be available if the individual has a high school diploma. When at the apprenticeship stage, employers are looking for specific skills when hiring such as the ability to do math or having some degree of understanding to commercial work. Furthermore, I learned that with time you'll learn real life skills on the job and will receive recognition for eventually completing the apprenticeship. ARE's Electric further explains that the more practice involved the harder the tasks you'll be able to install or operate. It all comes down to obtaining your license as an electrician with all the applied knowledge combined.

Citation: Ramos, Andy.

Summary: Rhema Electric provides employers' expectations or what they look for when hiring for their company. Rhema goes over what employers look for when it comes to skills but also who the individual is outside of their skills.

Reflection: As a professional electric company, Rhema Electric describes what could be looked into for individual trying to find a commercial electrician job. With some sort of experience on your record could indicate good quality of the work you can achieve. Many companies' primary goals are to apply customer service in the best way. Rhema really acknowledges commercial electricians with their main focus being customer service. Good customer service will help out the company, but the wrong electricians could potentially hurt the company. Rhema will look for those with insurance that covers accidents on the job. It all comes together when looking into individuals for hiring commercial electricians.

Citation: Rhema Electric Writer.

Summary: In the article, Bob Woods explains the growing demand in commercial electricians and electricians as a whole. The supply of electricians is going down where electricians are leaving or retiring. There aren't enough electricians to fill the positions needed.

Reflection: As young electricians coming up, the job process for commercial electricians is made much easier. Coming out of schooling and finding a job isn't always as easy as it sounds. With less positions being filled it'll give young electricians not only jobs but a vast amount of choices to pick from. With electricians being crucial everywhere, the outlook for commercial electricians broadens.

Citation: Woods, Bob.

Summary: Hawkeye Electric describes the different tasks of what commercial electricians actually do. It takes specialized professionals in this field to understand how these systems work inside and out.

Reflection: Getting into what commercial electricians actually do will help prepare for what to expect and work on going into the commercial field. Having an understanding of what the job actually is will help the job process go smoother since it'll all play into experience. There is a substantial difference between that of commercial and other topics such as residential or industrial, so understanding where you're headed only gets you in a better initial position. Having more knowledge even about the basics of the job can do much more for your future in becoming a commercial electrician.

Citation: Hawkeye Electric Writer.
Apprenticeship Experience

Summary: The channel, "American Electrician", explains what the first day may look like going into the field. He includes what to expect such as what tools to bring, what to wear, and who you'll be working with.

Reflection: From the video I learned what comes along with starting an apprenticeship. Many people are nervous going into their first job as an apprentice, so learning the basics can help towards a successful first. Some people may get schooling towards the jobs, but schooling is very different from what to expect in the field. Getting an idea beforehand makes the first time experience more manageable. Starting at an apprenticeship position means you're at the bottom, so working your way up has to be earned. Some people will help you while others will mess with you, but being prepared will only help you towards the experience. The more you show them how much you know and how prepared you are the more trust you'll gain for them to let you loose. It's rather important to know what you're getting yourself into before you're in it. Starting the first day with knowledge on what to expect will only improve the experience all together.

Citation: "The TRUTH About Your First Day As An Apprentice Electrician."

Summary: Kaplan Community Career Center talks about the questions to expect when going to an interview regarding a commercial electrician job. Not only does the career center give the most common questions, but they give answers to respond to them.

Reflection: I realized from the article that employers ask about a lot about previous experience regarding the material you're getting into. Technology and tools advance over the years, so employers tend to look at your knowledge on the current electrical industry developments. It's important to stay up to date with current technology since it becomes well known across the field. Problems and safety issues arise within the field all the time, so employers will look to people that can properly address situations regarding safety or changes. It's important to stay calm in such situations and stay flexible to the environment. Employers will look for problem solvers as well people who are involved in their field.

Citation: Kaplan Community Career Center Writer. They offer tips in order to give future electricians a good look as a qualified candidate for companies.

Reflection: Resumes offer all the qualifications for each persons' resumes. Employers will look to the people first who will have the most convenient set of skills that apply for the job. Properly formatting a resume with relevant information will only attract the employers more. Making yourself a unique asset to the organization with a professional summary of everything you have to offer will be impactful to your success in the interview. Listing important accomplishments instead of listing duties will help stand out more than other resumes. A resume is a valuable step in the job search, so taking time and effort to compose one is vital.

Citation: Indeed Editorial Team.
