The Israeli military waged a punishing campaign to eliminate Hamas after the group, which ruled Gaza for 17 years, attacked Israel on Oct. 7, killing an estimated 1,200 people and abducting more than 250.

Former president Donald Trump is on trial in Manhattan for allegedly falsifying business records to cover up hush money payments to Stormy Daniels and Karen McDougal during his 2016 campaign for president. Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg charged Trump with 34 counts of falsifying business records in the first degree. Trump pleaded not guilty to all 34 counts.

Personal Reflection - 8th Grade

This is my first year at Heritage, and at first everything was very new to me. At my old school, we did a lot of things differently, for example we didn’t have to wear uniforms, we used chromebooks instead of ipads, and lots more. It took a while to adjust, but from math competition and other classes, I made a lot of new friends. Also, at my old school, most of the homework could be done by me at school. But now, there is a lot more stuff to do, especially because we are also entering into high school. I started to learn how to better manage my time to maximize my efficiency so that I will still have more time to do other things after I finish the required things for school. Also, I am very serious about math competition, and this year I was in both the middle school program and the high school program. Both took quite a bit of time, as we would have practices every Tuesday and Saturday, as well as weekly testing Monday thru Wednesday. But, it was a very fun experience this year to be with both the middle schoolers and high schoolers in math comp.

Personal Reflection - AI

I feel that while Artificial Intelligence can be useful in the modern world, right now it is a bit too much. The main reason is that it is so easy to access by anyone in the public. Lots of students can easily use ChatGPT or other AI to easily mimic an essay. Of course, there are AI-detecting applications, but still with a bit of modification it would seem as the student “wrote” their own essay, but in reality they are just copying from the internet and not learning anything. This can be very dangerous for our future generations as they will not be learning very much. I think a pretty simple solution would to be make it only available to certain people that need it. For example researchers. If they need a data analysis or some ideas, they can easily look on an AI. But, when you give it to the public it is very easy for someone to make use of it for bad. In conclusion I think that even though AI has lots of great benefits, it also is very dangerous and cause some bad things, for instance students copying essays and not learning anything.
