The whole fight in the Cold War was about democracy fighting against Communism, and the reason why talking about it is important is because the USSR wanted to make it global when it was governed in the 50s and 60s. The failed efforts to widespread communism is why the USSR crumbled into numerous countries.

The Progressive Era was a period of reform in the United States which took place in the early 20th century. Those involved in the movement were known as "Progressives," and they advocated for the overall betterment of society. Some issues they tackled included suffrage, economic disparity, the environment, as well as regulations within business and government. The movement's lasting effects can be viewed in many aspects of our modern lives.

The civil rights movement in the 1950s and 1960s was a movement which advocated for the abolishment of segregation, discrimination, and any form of legal disparity related to a person's race. I think this is one of our country's most important modern events, as it set the standard for our country's legal ethics, as well as how to go about social change and reformation.

The "Reagan Revolution" refers to President Ronald Reagan's era of conservative reform and diplomatic policies throughout the period of his presidency. At the time of his presidency, the US was undergoing a major economic recession, and Reagan worked adamantly to reduce its effects. He also enacted many different foreign policies in response to major conflicts such as the Cold War and the Iran-Contra affair. Reagan is largely seen as an impactful leader in these times of despair, and I think his presidency has had lasting effects on our country and the entire world.
