We should live in harmony and acceptance of differences because differences make us unique, and diversity makes life beautiful. We can all do little things that can matter in a big way and we, as teachers have this power and responsibility to teach our students to treat everything with the utmost respect. Respect towards nature, towards other people, towards the whole world, because we are part of this world, and respecting everything and everyone around us, we respect ourselves. That is what global citizenship means to me. As far back as the 5th century BC, Socrates said: “I am not an Athenian or a Greek, but a citizen of the world.” and this could not be more valid today.
