You know that there are over 100 million cells in the retina. If it weren't for your pupils everything would be a lot brighter. The eyes also try to detect types of light. The eye can only see one type of light colored light and white light. But they can't see infrared or heat. Some animals can see these other types of light as well. Bees can see Infrared light but we can't see any other types of light besides normal light.
