Spanish elementary school has different schedules than American elementary school. High school and middle school in America and Spain are pretty much the same. I think the hardest part of school in Spain is having such a long school day for elementary students.

Spanish pre-school is free, where as in the United States it often cost us to send children to pre-school and it is not required. In elementary school in Spain they have two different types, they have where they go to school from 9-5 with a two hour lunch break from 1-3 or they have school where they go from 9-2. In the United States basically everywhere elementary school students go from 8-3, with a thirty minute lunch break. Something also different is students are not required to do the last two years of high school in Spain, even though people are not required to go to high school the whole time in the United States it is recommended and you will not get a diploma for high school if you do not finish high school in the United States.

In Spain pre-school is free and in the US different pre-school's cost different prices. In America, you don't have to go to pre-school. There are two different types of elementary time schedules, where kids go to school from 9-5 with a 2 hour lunch break or they can go from 9-2. In America mostly all elementary school kids come to school from 8-3 and have the same lunch break as everyone. In Spain you don't have to go the last two years of high school, but in America kids usually go all 4 years to earn their diploma. If you don't go all 4 years then you won't get a diploma, but there are other options.

In Spain pre-school is free of charge to the public and in America it costs money depending on where you go. Elementary School runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p. m. and is 6 years long. In america Elementary school normally goes from 8 a. m. to 3 p. m. and also lasts 6 years. In Spain there isn't really a middle and high school they are kind of combined. When you turn 16 you normally go into a vocational school or get hired at a job in Spain. In America middle school is 3 years and high school is 4. You can attend vocational school in high school however. I think that the education system in Spain and America are very different in the way they are run. I think the worst part about Spanish education is that they have longer days and no middle or high school.

There are two cycles of pre-school schooling in Spain. The first cycle of schooling in Spain is for 0-3 year old children and is optional and requires a payment, and the second schooling cycle is for 3-6 year old children is is obligated but is free. In America, we do not have this. Our pre-school is optional and sometimes requires a payment, depending on where you go. It is typically attended by 3-5 year olds. Both of our systems of elementary school are similar, the only difference is the school schedules. In America, we typically go to school from 8AM to 3PM with a thirty minutes to an hour break for lunch. In Spain, however, they have two schedules. Some schools run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with a two-hour lunch break from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Other schools begin at 9 a.m. and end at 2 p.m., the typical lunchtime in Spain. When you turn 16 you normally go into a vocational school or get hired at a job in Spain. In America middle school is 3 years and high school is 4. You can attend vocational school in high school. Personally, I think the worst thing about Education in Spain is the length of the school days. I could not go to school until 5PM.

A lot of the schools are in session from 9 am-5 pm with a 2 hour lunch break from 1-3. The typical student can graduate at 16 rather than 18. They also have the option to stay in the school longer if they want to repeat a class, but they are allowed to "graduate" at 16 years old.

The differences between schooling in the U.S. and the schooling in Spain are few in number. One difference is that some private schools in the U.S. require the student to have taken preschool in order to be in elementary school. Another is that the last two years of middle school and the first two years of high school are combined in a single school. One bad thing about the Spanish education is that, if one student does not specialize in one thing in a vocational school intership, they may not make it there.
