Objective: Create a Positive Behavior Support system within the school that teachers can easily access, use, and distribute in order to recognize and encourage positive behavior.

 

When: We are hoping to get this up and running by mid-November.

 

How: We will create tickets that will serve as “mini-positive behavior referrals.” Teachers will distribute these to students that are following demonstrating our vision (Collaborating, Creative, Caring, Challenging, and Consistent). These tickets will be used to purchase reward items from a new type of school store set up every Friday after school (and possibly during lunch on Friday).

 

I helped run a program like this previously and had a large amount of success especially when the students were able to use the tickets to get items for their parents during holidays or items that they needed.

 

Jenn has helped us generate this list and we are very open to ideas.

 

-School Supplies

-Moore Gear

-3D Printer Time

-Pizza with three friends

-Possibly another sheet of Bathroom Passes

-Lunch with the principal or vice principal?

-Seasonal goods (like cards that kids can get for their parents during holidays)

-Snacks (I do not believe we will be able to sell these at lunch due to regulations)

and other fun items including events after school, etc.

 

This question has come up: Would students be able to purchase these items with their money instead of the behavior tickets. The answer to this would be “No” as it could undermine the purpose of this project.

 

The Positive Behavior Referrals already being used will continue being used. We have discussed making these worth ten or fifteen tickets that would be given when students go to the office with their Positive Behavior Forms. The tickets that students give out are essentially mini-positive behavior referrals.

 

 

Next Steps: I would like to have an art competition where the students create the tickets. Perhaps we could call them Horseshoes (since they are in the shape of a C as Jenn pointed out) and have all of the five C’s on them (our vision).
