The Legislative Branch role is the Branch that is in charge of making laws. The Branch is cut into two parts, the Senate and the House of Representatives, these two make up Congress.

Why are they spit? The Legislative Branch was spit into two because of the "Great Compromise". The reason for having two houses was to favor the small in big states. The House of Representatives is to favor the large states, while the Senate is for the smaller states. The idea was proposed by Roger Sherman and Oliver Ellsworth.
