Today were went to the library to research the type of book we wanted to make. we went in a group of four, two sets of pairs.

To begin with we did a small focus group, which consisted of us all talking about the type of things we should put into our books, we also spoke a lot about our childhoods. This helped as it allowed us to know the best thing to put into our books.

When we had finished at the library, we went back to the classroom to make an attempt at illustration. when drawing the character we came across a few problems. to begin with, the drawing sometimes didn't look correct. this was an easy problem to fix as I just erased the parts that didn't look right and then I re-did them. Another problem was that we just copied characters from another book, as we cant use those characters the task was to only help us improve our drawing skills. To solve this problem, we could practice drawing our own characters instead.

From solving these problems, I learnt how to deal with pressure more effectively. when I made mistakes, it took a while to fix them. this meant that I had less time to do the rest.

Today we were put in pairs and and given a project brief which was to come up with an idea for a children's E-book. we the had to write up our project proposal and practice making a children's book background using Photoshop.

I have learnt how to arrange layers in Photoshop. I now know exactly how to arrange the layers in a photoshop document to make the image look the best it possibly can.

To improve I need to learn how to remove the background of an image. I am still unsure as to how you remove the background of an image on photoshop. I need to learn how to do this as I will definitely need to use this in my final piece.

Next lesson I will focus on learning how to remove the background of an image. this is because it is a very important tool for what I am doing on photoshop.

To produce my E-book successfully I need to make sure the artwork looks the best it can. as the artwork is my specific part, I need to make sure it looks great. this is because it is a very important part of the E-book.

Visual diary plan final cut problems

In todays lesson my partner and I were finishing off the animation part of the project. This was supposed to be a relatively easy task but unfortunately we came across a few problems that really set us back.

Firstly the mac we were using kept freezing. This meant that we couldn’t finish our animation as the file was on that specific mac and we couldn’t use it as it was freezing every time the mouse was clicked. The only way we could carry on with production was by trying to salvage some of the clips from various hard drives and memory sticks., then putting them all together on a different mac. This meant we were set back by a whole lesson but I believe it would have taken more time trying to finish it on the mac that kept freezing.

The next problem we had to face was an animation issue. To re create the effect of zooming, we had some trees that enlarged and moved off of the screen. The problem with this was that the trees all moved off the screen at different times. This made the E book look really amateur. The way we fixed this was by making a key frame at a set point and then moving to the end point, frame by frame, and then moving all of the trees off screen at the same time. This made the E book look much more professional.
