Tanya gets a heap of work to fill out, which she thinks is to make up for Connor's absence, but it's actually to get her to leave after everyone else so the boss (Harrison) and other employees can kidnap her. She escapes and is on the run for days, knowing she is being tracked. She makes it out of the woods and eventually, after a lot of struggle, makes it to Cleo (her dad's friend)'s house, where she finds out that her dad might not be dead and is instead being held somewhere in Alaska. Tanya and Cleo fly to Alaska, but are separated by an explosion. Tanya finds a strange cabin that extends many floors underground, and finds that her father has been brainwashed into making a project where no human will ever be lost. She finds Connor and manages to escape, in hopes of spreading the word and saving her father. Too bad the story ended on a cliffhanger!
This story started out like a typical romcom, and I almost stopped reading it until it turned into a mystery/adventure story. It really wasn't what I was expecting!
