The different finches could have come from different traits, adaptation, natural selection. I think the different kind of finches had a different type of scenarios adaptations they had to go through and get used to them like eating large seeds and trying to survive the drought, some finches still have their natural selection with them it's just not visible and when they have their offerings those traits they had which weren't visible passes to some offspring's being a mutation either harmful or not. To the idea I originally had that one finch probably mated with different kinds of birds could still be an option because then the offsprings would look different having both birds traits, mutations nonadaptive or harmful, have one parent traits

So many finches have evolved from a common species because of natural selection and mutations. Some of the finches get mutations in the genes at birth that causes them to have different traits. If these traits are good then the finch will survive and pass on the trait, causing a new species.

Many finches before 1970 had small beaks sizes that was perfect at the time because they lived on an island the provided small enough seed they could easily eat. After the drought, the smaller seeds weren't as common making the finches have to struggle to eat larger seeds. After generations, the finches beaks size grew bigger for the fiches to be eat and survive by eating the bigger seeds.

Many different species of finches evolved because of the cause of natural selection which is when the organisms who are better suited for an environment survive and pass on the traits to new organisms. An example are the finches in Daphne major. The finches with larger beaks survived because they were able to adapt to the change the drought brought over which was get rid of the smaller seeds. They then passed on the traits to the upcoming finches who were also able to adapt to the environment because they had the required traits to survive in the Daphne major environment.

I think the reason why so many species of finch evolve from a common ancestor is that those finches had reproduced and the new generation of finches had mutations on them that were either harmful or adaptive trait, they earned these traits through natural selection, since there were different environments they've gotten different traits then each other.

Each one of the finches adapted to a different lifestyle. The finches are different and that is the way they survive. Most finches get common traits of birth. Some can eat larger seeds or smaller seeds. The way of their beak is because of natural selection.
