U.S.S.R Secretary and Dictator of Soviet Union during WW2, Joseph Stalin made the Soviet Union a major world power. He made a pact the German forces, which gave them time to strengthen their military. He then started to take over parts of Romania, Estonia, Poland, Latvia, and Lithuania. The Germans then started to take parts of Russia, but Stalin pushed them back and kept his land. He then joined the Allies for the remainder of the war.
Although he made the Soviet Union a world power, he was a complete ruler and caused many deaths. Most historians estimate he killed 20-60 million people due to lack of resources. Also, he killed anyone he saw as a threat, which caused him to stay at power for so long. His impact will forever be remembered, as he took Russia to the world power it is today, and killed possibly tens of millions of people while doing so.

This was significant because it started WW2, which lead to mass killing and violent war, but also helping countries get out of the Great Depression.

After Japan raided Pearl Harbor, the government saw all Japanese people as spies and put them in camps to make sure they didn't cause harm. The Government made them leave most items they owned and kept them in military guarded camps from 1942-1945. This was a large event because it caused Japanese people to lose their homes, businesses, and other things. Also, Japanese people no longer felt safe in America.

Hitler wanted to take over Eastern Europe, so he decided to raid Russia. He started with a called city Stalingrad, which is named after the dictator Joseph Stalin. He raided the city with air forces, destroying the town. They then set up camp at the town. Over time, the Russians killed Germans one by one, waiting for winter. Once winter hit, the Russians surrounded the German forces and made them surrender. This battle was so important because it stopped the Germans from moving East and kept them in their country and the West. It also proved that the Germans were beatable and not as powerful as people thought they were.

This battle was the biggest victory for the Allies in WW2. They raided the Northern beaches of France to try and take the land back from the Germans. It was a successful mission and the allies took enough land to put the rest of the allies on the beaches. This was important because it marked a turning point for the allies because they started to gain a large amount of momentum in the war.

Kristallnacht began November 9, 1938 and ended November 10, 1938. This was the beginning of the Holocaust. During this time, around 100 Jewish people were killed, and 30,000 were sent away to concentration camps in Germany. The German people also raided and destroyed Jewish homes, businesses, schools, and anything else German owned. This event was substantial because it lead Holocaust and the mass killing of Jews over the coming years. Also, it was a large reason WW2 began because it was apart of Hitlers plan to conquer the world.

Dachau was a German concentration camp that held many Jewish people during the Holocaust. It was estimated that 188,000 people were held there and around 42,000 were killed at the camp. At this camp people were forced to do work, and sometimes the work was pointless. The Germans made them do pointless work to watch them suffer. This camp was liberated by the U.S. Army at the end of WW2. This is important because it was one of many concentration camps that killed Jewish and other people Hitler did not like. This camp should always be remembered so history won't repeat itself.

During WW2, the American's used Navajo Indians to send messages that were hard to be intercepted. They were hard to intercept because the Navajo Indian language was only present in certain tribes in the earlier days of America. The U.S. forces would use them to send messages that were impossible for other nations to translate. This group was a large help for America because without the Navajos, the U.S. would likely have had messages that were intercepted and translated, which would have ruined many of their plans.

When all the men left to fight overseas for America, jobs were left empty with no one to work them. During this time, women took over the jobs and proved they could do any jobs just as good as men could. This helped women get more respect in America and helped them keep their jobs once the men arrived back from WW2. This is a very important time because now America could have many more workers available than they ever had before. Also, it changed history for women because they could now work and make money just like men could.

During this conference, the 3 Allied Powers, United States, Soviet Union, and Great Britain talked about what they would do with Germany and Europe once the war ended. This conference was very important because it made many important decisions to end the war and what to do with post war Europe. Without this meeting, things would have likely gone wrong due to a lack of organization.

The creation of the Atomic Bomb was known as the Manhattan Project with involved the U.S.A, Canada, and the Great Britain. This project was kept a huge secret. This project lasted most of WW2, and during it the top engineers worked on and created the 2 Atomic Bombs that were later dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. This changed history because it ended WW2, and was the first time nuclear combat was ever used. Without the creation of the atomic bomb, the war could have gone on for another 1-3 years. The bomb in total killed around 210,000 Japanese people, and left radiation effects on the town for the coming days and weeks.
