https://padlet.com/FatherEliasLorenzo/About Abbot Elias Lorenzo, OSB, is a Morristown, New Jersey resident who was ordained as a priest nearly 30 years ago and serves as a monk with St. Mary's Abbey. Earning his bachelor’s degree in philosophy at Don Bosco College, Abbot Elias Lorenzo went on to complete a master’s degree in education at Seton Hall University, with an emphasis on psychology and counseling. Abbot Elias also holds a graduate degree from St. John's University in liturgical theology and has completed a licentiate of canon law at the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. A nationally certified counselor, he has an extensive background with the Delbarton School as secondary teacher and administrator. Directing the campus ministry for half a dozen years, Abbot Elias served on the school’s board of trustees for a decade. He also held leadership responsibilities as chair of the religious studies department and was tasked with managing the institution’s external affairs as vice president. Abbot Elias Lorenzo left St. Mary’s Abbey to administer the Benedictine Order’s international university in Rome, Sant’Anselmo. In 2016, he was elected Abbot President of the American Cassinese Congregation, which brought him back to the United States. He concurrently serves as the president of the International Commission on Benedictine Education, which includes more than 180 secondary schools around the world.
