There were many fights and arguments over the plan between the large and small states and between the North and the South states. In the Great Compromise of 1787 The two opposing sides could not agree, their opinions are extreme opposites. The Constitutional Convention reached a standoff over the issue of representation.

The Connecticut Compromise, also known as the Great Compromise, was formulated by Roger, William, and Oliver. All of them were lawyers and extremely involved and interested in the Constitutional Convention.

The great compromise was an event that tried to solve all disagreements between the big and small states. The person who had the idea for this event to even happen was Mr. Roger Sherman. Roger Sherman was born on April 19, 1721 and passed away on July 23rd, 1793. One of the first supporters of this act was Benjamin Franklin. This event mixed ideas from the Virginia and New Jersey compromises as well. Next, in the senate, this meant that every state would have equal representation because each state would have 2 senators. Another benefit that came with the Great Compromise was that it gave the congress ability and power to tax, regulate trade and provide for common defense. This compromise also helped bring the states together by making a government structure that helped balance the needs and concerns of the big and small states. The great compromise was also known as the Connecticut plan. This compromise was one of the largest compromises because it allowed the delegates to continue with the drafting of the U.S constitution. In conclusion, the great compromise, also known as the Connecticut plan, was an event in 1787 that stopped fighting between big and small states and it also helped with taxes. This was also an important event for the government and delegates because it included benefits for them as well.

Over the Fourth of July holiday, citizens worked out a compromise plan that avoid Franklin's proposal. On July 16, the convention made the Great Compromise by a vote. As the 1987 celebrants duly noted without that vote, there would likely have been no Constitution.

The compromise was made because they had to address the weakness of the Articles of Confederation. They needed to do this so that America would become stronger and independent from Britain. They were planning to change the constitution to implement a stronger government. Multiple delegates did not agree, and they objected to the authority over state laws that Congress got from the Virginia Plan.
