Description 

Students will investigate and create a simple circuit to perform the “Banana Boat” song using the Makey Makey program and circuit kit.

Parameters

Students are going to post 1 video of one member performing the “banana boat” song using the Makey Makey system. The length of their video should be no more than 5 minutes for their performance. 

Engineering Design Process: 

•  Real World Problem/Measurable Goal:

Your challenge is to create a closed circuit that acts like a five-note piano. Imagine you have a limited budget, and you also need to place objects in the right order. You'll use what you know about music and closed circuits to make it work with a fifteen dollar budget.

• Planning:

  • Students will draw a blueprint of their circuit layout and connections and make modifications as they go through planning/testing phases.

• Prototyping:

  • Connect the components according to the planned circuit layout.

  • Test each component individually to ensure proper functionality.

  • Integrate the components into a cohesive circuit.

  • Verify that the circuit produces the desired five notes when activated.

• Testing:

  • Evaluate the circuit's reliability and stability over extended use.

  • Gather feedback from potential users on the user experience.

• Redesign/Improve:

  • Identify any issues or shortcomings observed during testing.

  • Modify the circuit design to address identified problems.

• Communicate Findings:

  • students will be using Schoology to model their findings by performing the song using the circuit and explain the results.

  • Students will perform their “Banana Boat” song on the established piano and circuit.

Description 

Students are to compare the cost of materials to create their five note piano within a fifteen dollar budget for their entire circuit. They are to track their spending and create a list of the materials, price, and the total budget spent and saved for their circuit.
