The merchant begs to see his family once more.
The demon lets him see his family one last time and makes the merchant promise he'll come back in one year. The merchant agrees and after one year he begins to head back to were the demon is.
I chose this image because this is how I picture the merchant begging for his life while the demon is so determined his is going to kill him at that moment.
