When interpreting the text, the cultural and historical context must be taken into account. For example, this image would not be relevant to the issue of immigration that we have today. The cartoon is most relevant to the issue of the first wave of immigration, when the the Irish and Catholics were coming to America. In today's context, this form of political cartoon could be interpreted in a different way that fits the immigration problems that we are facing today.

To some extent, texts are able to offer insight into another culture, both favorably and negatively. For example, this text is depicting the cultural identity of Native Americans through a sports event environment; however, their identity is being wrongfully interpreted and celebrated by the United States. The cultural identities of Native Americans are often used for sport mascot logos in the united states. The logos are usually portraying Native Americans in a derogatory way as they use slurs and stereotypical representations. The text is offering a fallacious perception often made by Americans of Native Americans. This text is representing a negative portrayal of Native Americans to be savages. Thus, this text is representing another culture but through a controversial topic of U.S sports mascots.

Originally published in the during the Tiananmen square protest, it showed a man defiant of the military and standing boldly in front of tanks. This image became a symbolic of the Chinese sentiment at the time regarding the Tiananmen Square Incident. And has become an icon for the event.

This cartoon is showing a African American man ripping up a map of the states, and two white men are just watching him. This shows how people from the southern part thought that African Americans could dominate the whole country. In order to approach this cartoon, strong historical knowledge for slavery is required. Thus, people can interpret this cartoon in a proper way.

The meaning of this book would be different today than it would have been when it was written. Back when it was written, its main purpose would be to make the readers more cautious of the rising Totalitarianism governments in during the cold war era. However, right now it could be interpreted in a much different way. Readers today would think of the dystopian society described as becoming slowly similar to the society we live in today.

This text is from a novel called American Born Chinese. This text is showing how language affects social identities and can allow social distinctions through the power of language. The language of someone can allow other people to categorize a person, but also in some way ignore their identities.
