We won’t have a lot of time for introductions as it is quite a short course. With that in mind I would be grateful if you would take a moment if you would introduce yourselves to each other. Please tell us something about where you work, what classes you will be teaching and your background. Please let me know if you will be teaching Applications SL , HL or both.
My name is Vaneeta. I work at the International School of Luxembourg. I have been teaching the IBDP on and off since 2009 but I constantly flip between teaching the Australian equivalent courses and the IBDP. So, courses like this are very helpful to refresh my knowledge. I really like the format of this course and the convenience of online learning. I'm looking forward to learning a lot to share with my colleagues and students.

Hello - this is my 22nd year teaching math, but my first year teaching IB Math A & I SL. Most of my recent teaching experience has been in teaching AP Statistics and AP Calculus AB.

I teach the SL course in one year in a small district in Northeastern Florida. The students are supposed to have taken AP Statistics as a prerequisite (but not all of them have done so). I am also new to this school, so I did not personally teach them statistics.

I am currently teaching 4 sections of AP Statistics and 2 sections of IB Applications & Interpretations SL

I am hoping to learn more about the course, how marks are earned for the Paper 1 and Paper 2 and the IA experience plus where I can access additional resources. My school uses the Oxford text - but I am open to other ideas and best ways to help the students learn to investigate more.

My official IB training will not occur until December, so I am very thankful for this opportunity to learn more this week.

Hello. My name is Neven Barisin. I have just started working at St George´s School in Barcelona. I have taught A level Maths and Furher Maths classes in the UK. This is the first time I teach IB Maths SL Applications and Interpretation. There are quite a few of similar topics with A-level Maths but I also need to adapt to the differences between the two syllabi.

Hello! I'm Maja, and I've been teaching Math, Physics, and Algebra at International Schools NOVA in Macedonia for 22 years. I have extensive experience teaching IB Physics and AP Physics for nearly 18 years, and I serve as an examiner for paper 2,3and IA, along with being a team leader for this component. This year, I'm excited to dive into teaching IB Math AI SL for the first time. I'm facing the challenge of taking over a senior class who had a different teacher last year, so I'm working on a strategy to cover the entire material by February and leave some time for reviewing last year's content. While I'm well-versed in Physics investigations , the IA in math is a new adventure for me. I'm really looking forward to this workshop, meeting all of you, and learning from Jim and everyone else about the best practices. See you tomorrow!
