    • The average Accident Reconstructionist salary in the United States is $84,049 as of August 27, 2021, but the salary range typically falls between $63,048 and $92,770. Salary ranges can vary widely depending on many important factors, including education, certifications, additional skills, the number of years you have spent in your profession.
  • Work Location
    • Accident reconstruction experts work for law firms, insurance companies, or consulting firms. They will also visit the scene of the actual location it took place as well.
    • In this career the analyst often works in a team setting and has to collaborate with many people and branches of work to conduct their investigation.
  • Expected Growth
    • The job positions within the job are teams of people. During an investigation, each member specializes on a specific aspect of the crime (engineering, crime scene forensics…). These positions are all equal but one person can become the leader of these groups and be responsible for the team and its members.

  • The Goodman Collision 
    • Victim: Scott Wilson Suspect: John Goodman
    • The crime took place on February 12, 2010 and two years later was the court hearing
    • A Wellington, Florida intersection and canal
    • A high profile man named John Goodman and a college student named Scott Wilson got into a car accident that forced Wilsons car into a canal. Ultimately flipping it upside down underwater and drowning the student. Goodman was found an hour later near the crime scene slightly injured and smelling heavily of alcohol.
    • Two years later Goodman was convicted of DUI manslaughter with failure to render aid and vehicular homicide charges, marking the end of a nationally publicized case. He was sentenced to serve 16 years in prison. However the case has been reopened in 2020 in claim of jury misconduct.

  • Although this aspect of forensic science is interesting and plays a very important role in solving crimes, I don’t think I would pursue this job. I personally don’t have a strong desire to learn about cars and wouldn’t want to study their malfunctions and crashes everyday.
