Music is much more like a feeling you, it's intended to provoke emotion in the listener. The feeling can be shared from the artist to the audience or audience to artist. In Participatory  styles or music you see much more of an involvement with the audience. Examples of this style of music is karaoke, concerts, singing in the shower, singing competition shows. This past Sunday, some of my friends and I, rented a karaoke room for another one of my friends birthday. They were all in the feels so most of what was sang was sad love songs. However, me and the birthday girl sang Last Friday Night by Katy Perry to lighten the mood, then we sang The Climb by Miley Cyrus. I love Karaoke because it's not about the voice, it's about the fun, the energy inside of you when you do this activity. On the other side of things, you have presentation types of music. This is more of an orchestral style that demands more of a sophistication in the art of music. Growing up I was in the school band, and there was this thing about classical music that always gave me goosies, as Jennifer Lopez (If you aren't cultured in the art of American Idol it means Goose bumps).
