Scenes in Tom and Jerry's cousin video

Our task is to fill the music into no-music video and I had to choose one video to work on as a very first step. In my case, I chose Tom and Jerry's cousin video which was the second one. The reason why I have chosen it is because I found this video shows each character's feeling well so I wanted to work on it.

There are 6 different scenes in Tom and Jerry's cousin video. Each scene expresses 3 characters' feeling well so it was easy to anticipate and organize sound effects.

Also, I tried to find the melody and sound effect which goes well with the mood of each scene. For example, there is a scene shows how Tom do for revenge after he got hit by Jerry's cousin. At that scene, Tom's face looks determined while exercising for a big revenge. So I added the loud rock guitar sound which shows his resolute attitude. I strongly think this music expresses mood of this scene well.

For the very first step, I just added any musics which sounds fine with my video. Then, I tried to choose better musics after watching the video again.

However, I found the way of choosing music was kind of hard to do it because when I am searching for the musics, I forgot what happened next in each scene. Because, at that time, I was not familiar to memorizing scenes so I had to write each situations in my documents.

Then, I started to reorganize musics into the video. (I was at 30% of my work)

I fixed some changes for arranging better flowing mood of the music.

Changes I made:
1. I added match strike sound effect after watching Dyne's video. (I got inspiration while helping each other)
2. I added one of the loud sound effect called, Single combat in the scene shows Tom's resolute attitude (exercising for revenge)
3. I added the sound of eating crackers to describe how Jerry's cousin eats snack.
4. I deleted some of useless sound effects. (e.g: too loud crash sound effect for bombing scene, too much melodies combined in the scene when Jerry's cousin warns to Tom at the very first and so on)
5.I have found the best sound for ticking of a clock which was called woodblock steady. It is actually sound of the woodblocks, but I think it also going well with the clock sound so I decided to put it. (And I think that was the best decision during working on this video)
6.I combined 7 sounds of crash in the scene when Tom throw a bomb to Jerry's cousin. My intention was to make a really loud and big sound because I can see that Jerry's cousin seems really hurt after Tom's revenge worked to him. However, I couldn't get that kind of loud sound effect so I just decided to combine them all and it was perfectly worked to satisfying me.
7.I added 4 different rock styled musics in the scene shows Jerry's cousin chasing Tom. To be honest, I didn't know what to put in there because I was not sure about the best sound effect in running scene. So I made a decision which was just combine all 4 rock musics and make a new song. It was actually good idea to make the scene enthusiastic and I really liked that part.

Firstly, I checked the whole video from last time. It still has something to change to make a better video with better quality. So I decided to fix or add some more sound effects for even a little details.

For the next step, I tried to watch my whole video critically to see what should I fix more. Then, I found some parts are not smooth enough to listen so I deleted some parts and put better musics to make more smooth and perfect video. It was kind of hard to reset some parts and re-do the searching for better music, so I searched them to use the "style" bar in mixcraft. After I found that, I was able to easily find some music tracks I wanted to put in.

After I watched my video critically to pretend like audience, I found that I had 80% of my works are good enough to judge

For example, I liked the scene shows Tom doing his revenge to release a bomb right over down to Jerry's cousin the best. At that part, I added organ music track and that actually sounds really good to me because that sound was familiar sound in Tom & Jerry videos.

Secondly, I liked how I used one of the comedy sound effect called Cartoon Phone Babble. I first didn't know that it was the voice when someone calling in a phone, but I realized that I can use this sound when small animal like Jerry's cousin talking to bigger animal like Tom. It sounds cuter compare to bigger animal and it makes audience laugh which is the purpose of my video. Tom and Jerry is basically the cartoon for children so I think that I better make this video entertainingly.

What I have done good?
- Good mashups of sound effects (E.g: woodblock steady sound can be used as clock sound, 7 sounds of crashes made a really loud hurting crash sound which I was expected, music track in chasing scene, match strike sound effects, organ sounds while Tom doing his revenge, Cartoon phone babble sound track matched well to J's cousin's warning sound effect... etc.)

- Good transition (I tried hard on making each of transition goes smoothly, otherwise it will be really awkward to watch the video. So in mixcraft, I arranged each sounds to make decrescendo so that it will be smooth and nobody will be awkward to listen.

What I have to improve?
- I better find better sound effects in mixcraft. I have been wondering when I was deciding about what kind of mood should I put in my video, which music sounds better, why is it sounds better than previous one... stuffs like that. So I better organize it properly before I just take those many soundtracks and attach them without making decision. I better use another ways to make wise decision.
