Pg.43 Paragraph 2
"Metias kissed me on my forehead. "Forever and ever, kid, until you're sick and tired of seeing me."
This memory is important to June because the irony when Metias dies June wants to see him every day and she would never get sick of him. This shows a really strong brother sister relationship, after their parents died Metias had to take care of June which means that Metias meant a lot to her.

Pg. 173 last paragraph
"What if it was no accident that Eden got the Plague? What if it's no accident when anyone gets it?"
These questions make me wonder, what is the Republic up to? Are they purposely infecting the poor sectors for a weapon against the Colonies? Day must be thinking somewhat the same thing because he wants to stop the Republic. And what country infects their own citizens to test on?

A small red number-a zero-printed in the same style as the ones I'd seen underneath the porch of our house and under the banks of our sector's lake. It's Here."
This realization that Day made at the hospital as he was getting dragged was very important because it got him thinking. He saw the red x just like the ones in his sector, which got him thinking even more and got him asking questions about the Plague. This changes things because he tells June about this which changes her mindset about the Republic.

Why would they want to damage someone who got a perfect fifteen hundred on his Trial score? They tested on Day for his skills to enhance other soldiers to create these perfect soldiers. These questions June asked she wondered herself.

The moment the captain shot my mother plays over and over in my head, like a movie stuck on the same scene."
This memory is important because it will be in Days mind forever. He will always remember that day when the captain shot him mother without thinking. Even though Day abandoned his family he still has that strong relationship with them which is why this memory is important and will stick with Day as a bad memory.

This I'm sure of now, and the thought makes me ill."
This realization changed things because June now realized that the Republic is not what she believed in so she instead of letting Day get executed she helps him. I believe that this was the turning point in the book because after they both escaped.

Day acted this way because his brother Eden was just diagnosed with the Plague and he wanted to save him. The next day he went to the hospital with a plan that was thought out not long. He gets some but injures himself in the process. He wasn't acting like himself but instead he acted foolish and went on the raid with a poor plan.

Pg.38 Paragraph 4
"Metias should have taken me with him." Even though this sentence is said twice, it still creates a suspense and gets you thinking, what if she did go with him? How would the events that happened occurred differently? This sentence was said twice because June thinks it is her fault that Metias is dead and that if she was with him maybe she could have stoped day and then he would still be alive. Metias is very important to her so that is why she kept saying he should've taken her with him. Before he left she even asked if she could join him and he said no, so she had the opportunity to go with him even though he said no.

Who is this boy that would risk his own safety for a girl he didn't know? Who is the Day that grieves so deeply for his mother?"
This makes me wonder if June will eventually go to Day and ask him questions about that night her brother died and if he really killed him. I think these questions get her thinking that maybe Day isn't the killer? Maybe someone framed him, but who? So she has to figure it out.
