A take away from the video was how the teacher completed her praise by complementing the students and telling them what she was complementing them on. She provided the students with reasons to continue doing the correct thing.

I will try praising the process by complimenting students on the effort they put into the strategies being taught. To a point I'm already doing it, but I will be more strategic.

I like how the teacher was very intentional in the praise she gave; explicitly calling out the strategies they used and what it looks like in action. She also allowed them to praise themselves.

You worked hard and did a good job doing so sends the message that adults value the effort or process. When students succeed, these types of praise teach students different reasons for their success.

My takeaway was that praise was given to things the students have the power to change or do differently. They need to be able to control it.

The teacher was very intentional with her praises and she did not single out a specific student or group of students. She spoke to them in a positive and calm tone. She complimented the students and explained what she was praising them on. I also loved how she allowed the students to praise themselves at the end.

I need to do better about praising my students efforts. Being more specific in the effort they put into their work instead of just saying good job.

Excellent specific and targeted praises. General praises are hard for students to "digest". I feel the teacher did a good job offering students effort praise.
