During 1878–1968 , a young socialist journalist and novelist writes abuses in the meat processing industry. This tells how the factory was working and running also it shows that how dirty the factory was and no one care about it. In the Encyclopedia it says about how rats and meat are mixed to make a ham. We can use this information to describe the setting of the industries.

http://www.encyclopedia.com/doc/1G2-3401804802.html

This passage from encyclopedia gives us overall information about Meatpacking industry in US, but mainly in Chicago. It does not indicate the time for every single event, but it indicates the time for main significant events. It tells us where the meat was coming from and when they killed the hogs and cattle (about weather). Also, it mentions about how stockyard had expanded through transporting those animals through railroad and ships. In addition, it talks about the inventions, main cooperating meatpacking companies and their challenges. All of those information will be helpful for me to get general idea of this industry before I start to look for other resources, and it'll be a good basic structure for the flow of my project.

All of those informants elaborated the changes in the meatpacking industry but also about their various life experiences and challenges such as injuries, treatment from the working place, working process...etc. I think this resource will be one of the MOST helpful resource for my project because it's detailed, and the feelings and perspective/opinion of the workers are expressed. Which will help me to apply them into my character's life(experience, opinion, feelings, etc) and the basic setting of the story.

In this passage, it included the excerpts from the book which is the elaboration of the working condition. However, this journal it's not just about the book, but also about the brief status of the US in 1900s (such as gov. action). These information would be helpful for me to have an example of others historical fiction about the same topic and get basic ideas to guide me, and also the brief status broaden my view about the situation so that Ican also consider about other factors(such as gov.).
