RE-TAKING OVER

February 14, 2022

Sir Jes Incharge!

Journal! As I have repeatedly asserted, you know, the fact that I have gotten used to talking to you every weekdays makes the weekends feel odd, of course, not having someone to talk to. Well, I did some homework over tha past weekend, mostly, if not all, directed towards polishing my Lesson Plan more since Imma be doing my Final Demo this Wednesday. Whatever, Maam Dev is tremendously amazing in handling us, her interns.

Well, today went great, and although it’s a new environment considering that I’ll be in a new class - Grade 10 Consunji, I was very much exhilirated to, yet again, have the chance to get to know more learners, since like Maam Dev, aside from me being naturally shy, I still really am a people person, you know, I wanna be around people, Journal! Lemme share this tho, my first day with Grade 10 - Consunji went amazing! I was able to introduce myself and they were all very welcoming. Journal, I think my way of being able to handle students is mainly credited to all the knowledge I have learned from my mother and my girlfriend who are both teachers, not to mention my Tita and the mom of my girlfriend, I mean, I really get a lot of pointers from them in terms of enabling myself to be approachable and promote that “chill” vibe within the classroom, in this case, a virtual one, towards my students, more so, high schoolers. It’s crazy how I get superbly excited in this field I am currently conquering.

Journal, mind you, teaching was never part of the options regarding the profession I wanted to be in, in fact, I was solely focused to being an army. However, due to reasons which will create a longer narrative, I’d go into the fact that yes, I resorted to beinf an Educ and never looked back, more so that I have fallen more deeply in love with it. Just crazy.

Anyway, Imma do some more polishing with my Lesson Plan and will be finalizing my PowerPoint as well. Thank you for constantly being here, Journal!

Sir Jes out! 💙

COACHING STINT

February 15, 2022

Sir Jes be Coachin'

Journal! You know what? As young as I am - considering that I’m still ik my early adult-ish stage, I’ve always been so passionate about being able to share and impart knowledge to the younger ones - may it be in music, basketball, but ultimately, in academics. Guess what? Today made that chance possible.

Journal, today was my first day of coaching three brilliant, and I REALLY MEAN BRILLIANT, students - Impromptu participants from my designated sections. Yesterday, I already prepared an outline as to what I’d do and what I would ask them during the 1-hour coaching, so I was pretty much ready, although the nerves were of botherance, but it was all good. Anyway, I genuinely had so much fun coaching these beauties, more so that fortunately, I was able to promote my targeted comfortable vibe, since I wanted a virtual training place where they can really express without being judged, rather, criticized for the better snd further improvement. IT WAS REALLY SUPER FUN, JOURNAL! Although I still had a Class Observation in which I facilitated the Temp Check and Speak Up activity for the 2nd straigt day, in which was very fun also, by the way, still, the ultimate highlight of today was really the 3-hour coaching since I was able to impact knowledge to the younger generation.

That wraps up today, journal! Imma get some sleep because I need it so bad. Sir Jes out! 💙

FINAL DEMONSTRATION TEACHING

February 16, 2022

Demo Demo Demo!

WOOOOHOOOO!! DEMO DONE! One of the most productive days I’ve had, if not, the most productive in this internship journey! WADDUP JOURNAL! Good evening! I have to say, I got no poper rest since this week started, but so far, it’s all going worth it!

After I exercised and did the chores I needed to do, I went straight to reviewing my PPT and my LP as well. To be honest, Journal, I wasn’t all nervous with talking, more si that I’ve gotten really to establish a rapport with my students, and it feels superbly good. In fact, when I observed the 11-12am class, they wished me good luck as I was about to demo at 1pm, right? Fast forward, 12:30 noon came and I had to prepare as I wrapped my lunch up. 12:45 I was all set and I made the meeting call aroung 12:55 and little by little, my students came. Then, it all started at exactly 13:00. To summarize how it felt - it went smooth, my students were VERY participative, and most importantly, the usually intermittent net connection cooperated! Overall, it was an experience worth-remembering! I also give HUHE CREDITS to the experience and lessons I learned from Maam Michele P. Romorosa during our Pre-Internship phase as she was really able to point out matters I needed to improve on, more so, in creating more ways to have my students be more engaged. Ultimately, huge credits to Maam Adeva as well because SHE IS THE MOST RESPONSIVE PERSON, not just a CT, PERSON, there is! Like we’re so blessed with having her as out CT. Credits to my family members as well for being extremely supportive and understanding, as always, and most importantly, to my Grade 10 - Consunji students who, despite it not being required, still attended my Final Demonstration Teaching as their way of supporting me. I AM JUST OUT OF WORDS CAUSED BY THIS OVERWHELMING FEELING RIGHT NOW, JOURNAL.

I’m kinda like this since I wasn’t really able to absorb the feeling because after the demo, I had to immediately coach the Impromptu participants. Additionally, I just concluded my Post-Conference with Maam Dev and I really learned more matters to continue to improve on and her feedbacks were very relieving as well, for sure, massive confidence boosters 💙

That’s it for today, Journal! Imma sleep now coz I am tired. See you! ❤️

Today, I wanna talk about this Coaching Sting I currently have, since I have not been able to tackle as much about it since we’ve been more focused on my Final Demo Teaching, right? Anyway, since Day 1 of this training sesh with the 3 beauties I have, oh how I’d love to mention their names here, but yeah, it’s been going superbly and smoothly well! They are all A VIBE! And I really mean A VIBE! In a way that they’re somehow in different spectrums. To be totally honest, as much as the daily facilitation of the temp check and speak up activity made ma fall for teaching more, in the most tremendous way, this experience is also making me love teaching more and further!

Anyway, yes, I also facilitated today’s Temp Check and Speak Up, and it went fun! Man, journal, I’m having as much in an intensity I never expected to be in, you know? It’s been going great so far and I hope to carry this momentum, FOREVER! See you around, journal!

Sir Jes, out! 💙

XUJHS IMPROMPTU COMPETITION

February 18, 2022

Time Keeper, Slides Presenter, Talked a Little

A huge day for us, Journal! Maam Jayla, Maam Gab, and I have been, as I was able to share, tasked with facilitating this year’s virtual XUJHS Impromptu Competition. Beforr I forget, we, as I have reputedly asserted, are beyond blessed for having been under the supervision of Maam Adeva! We are totally experiencing internship at its finest! All the beautiful moments we’re going through, more so, the full indulgence within internship - one that not all interns are blessed to delve into.

Anyway, my tasks were pretty much share my screen, present the slides, show the timer, read te question twice - these were the things that I did. At first, it was kinda worrying since I wasn’t really sure, indeed skeptical, with how the internet is gonna work, and the last thing that I need was for the connection to sabotage my tasks, right? At first, I really got disconnected, and that matter really got into my nerves, but I kept calm and had enough poise to get back to the breakout room and recalibrate. Fortunately, the Internship cooperated and it was, from there, a finesse ride! I’m happy also that I got yo showcase my voice basically through reading the same question over and over from contestants 1 through 19! It was just one of those experiences more than worth-remembering! Crazy!

Well, I also got to say my goodbyes to Grade 10 - Consunji, and it was, yet again, painful! But yeah, that’s the worst part of being a teacher - letting go of the students whom you’ve been attached to. I mean, I was with them for a week and felt this d*mn feeling, I can only imagine what it would be like when I’ll have students who I will be around for 1 whole year! Omg!

Anyway, that’s it for today and for this week, Journal! I’m out and I DESERVE A REST AFTER 1 WEEK OF GRINDING! I’m not even done with my Learning Tasks, cmon!

See you around, Journal! Sir Jes will be sleeping the weekend 💙
