This literature review focusses on the training and education element in organizations and how gamification can influence this. A common problem in corporate training is the lack of employees’ motivation. This literature review addresses the success and challenges of gamification in a corporate context, which leads us to the research question: ‘How is gamification used in the corporate context nowadays as a tool for training and gaining motivation?’. In the first part, the term ‘gamification’ is explained with examples of how we can see this phenomenon implemented in a workplace. Secondly, factors that influence the acceptance of gamification in a corporate context are looked at. Furthermore, strategies of gamification being applied in the corporate training context are looked at. Finally, the literature review concludes with a discussion of the results. A discussion and opportunities for future research follows.
