         <description><![CDATA[<div>-Mycenae lasted from 1400 BC to 1200 BC. It was made up of monarchies.<br>-Dark ages lasted from 1100 BC to 700 BC. Very little records from this time were kept.<br>-In 800, Sparta was established . Their main prospect in life was war. The Spartans flourished until 600 BC.<br>-In 700 Bc, Athens became another major city state.&nbsp;<br>-Athens fell into turmoil at the end of the seventh century BC.&nbsp;<br>-Cleisthenes laid down the foundations for democracy.&nbsp;<br>-Classical Greece lasted from 588 to 300 BC. Pericles helped to expand Greece and direct democracy flourished.&nbsp;<br>-The Hellenistic Period began in 300 BC and brought great expansion. Alexander the Great conquered many places, and different cultures were blended together.</div>]]></description>
