Songs that were overly patriotic or militaristic were often rejected by the public! Popular singers of the era included Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Bing Crosby. Popluar songs were Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy, Shoo Shoo Baby, I'm Making Believe, I'll Be Seeing You, and I'll Be Home for Christmas.
Role of Women in the War- 350,000 women joined the military, they worked as nurses, drove trucks, repaired airplanes, and performed clerical work to free up men for combat. The role of women in the war had risen because so many men were leaving for war, so women had to work in factories and made many efforts men had usually done.
The Red Cross- founded by Clara Barton, the red cross serves those in need. Prior to the First World War, the Red Cross introduced its first aid, water safety, and public health nursing programs.
5 roles of compassionate care provided by the Red Cross

People affected by disasters in America

Support for members of the military and their families

Blood collection, processing and distribution

Health and safety education and training

International relief and development
