Ashes comes back and starts to scream at her. Alice says that the bird is not harmful. But then the bird pecks Alice. Alice screams and throws the bird away. Her and Ashes start running, and Alice looks behind herself and she sees so many of those birds chasing them! They see a house, and they run into it. They block the door. Alice quickly pulls out a few bricks to make spots where her hands, and feet can go. The birds bust through the door, and they see Alice up high, so they start to jump. Ashes screams now, and Alice struggles at first but she manages to kick over the water bucket. It immediately rises, and it looks like all the birds drowned, so she jumped down, and tried to push open the door. But it was stuck! She pushed, and pushed, but it wouldn't budge. The water became so high she couldn't breathe. Everything went black.

She woke up in a warm bed, and saw her great great grandfather. He told her that she has to make a choice. She could become a reader, and be his apprentice or he could take away her memory of all that, and give up. Alice decided that she was going to be a reader.

She thinks to her self "how am I supposed to race that big high school girl if I am in middle school?" And before she knew it it was her turn to swim she gets in the water and gets a early start. Her relay gets in second place. At the end of the relay she hears someone say that her team got disqualified because of Annabelle. Annabelle got so embarrassed she think all her teammates will now hate her.

Trey was upset with his father because he had just gotten a buyer from Logan's family. Trey thought Logan really understood him. Trey's dad had gotten 17 buyers, and made over 2,000,000 dollars. Trey's dad said that it was going to be the big kahuna. The big kahuna means a big hit; it might change everything.

Arianna printed out a check, and it was signed by Micah's parents. It was blank. She claimed that they could write whatever number they wanted, and they could get it. Their dad said no, and that it could lead to the police finding them. Arianna got very upset, and she ran to her room.
