^{the reason it is so punchy is because of the kick and the different layers of basses going on in the background.}

^{if you listen close you can hear the distortion when the kick hits with the bass, producing this unique clipping sound giving the kick its character.}

^{Nathan uses this to his advantage, the benefits are that he can add more profound sounds like the clave that is layered with the counter snare giving it more bounce and uniqueness which the listener enjoys.}

_{to start the kick is very thumpy but not as distorted as the previous example. this beat has 3 different basses, 2 different styled 808 basses and log drums.}

_{perccussion wise i can hear accoustic drum sounding snare that sounds crisp and airy, then a second snare that might be sampled or synthetic that is used as a ghost note to add to the bounce.}

The whole reason behind me doing this study on Nathan was to better deifne what a distinct sound is.This then led me to learning the difference between producers who use sounds to create a different feel within a genre vs producers that use there own unique techniques and sound fx insted of creating their own type of wave within a genre.Someone like Pharrell is a good example of this,he has is iconic four count start, which is basically his producer tag, and he loves to use his voice as vocal chops when making theses beats.This research was beneficial to me as it made me realise producers like nathan are mostly stuck within that genre they have the distinctive sound in as its not like a hi-hat and kick with a drill pattern will fit into rnb or genres like Edm. What i am trying to achive is more like a technique that stands out. a pattern that people can notice in my production, similar to pharrells four count, it doesnt take away from the broadness i will have over mutliple genres.
