Carousel:

When i was drawing out the new story board, we decided that the base tracks with the flare were going to be unrealistic and hard to film. The reasons for this was because firstly, the flare prop was going to have to be bought. The second is the we didn't know if we had permission to light a flare in such a central area. This could create many complications and is a definite challenge against the risk assessment that we planned out.
The Carousel base tracks have now replaced those base tracks with the flare prop. We as a team had planned before hand that the carousel base tracks will be filmed on the 5th day of filming. On this day we waited until dark to start shooting. We managed to board the carousel ride with the camera and there was much space for us to work without any distraction in the background.

Problem:
The problem we came across was that the way i had positioned the camera angle aiming towards the performer meant that both the camera operator and performer had to be sitting on separate sides of the ride with quite some distance. Firstly this was a problem because the camera needs to hear the music swell as the performer so that when we edit, we can clearly mark the beginning words and the beat.
Not only was this a problem but there was another problem, The performer herself wasn't even able to hear the music because there was already noise pollution coming from both the ride itself and the outside world of the people walking past and traffic on the bridge.

Solution:
Seeing as the shot became useless as a base track, we didn't want to waste this opportunity. Instead we decided to film the performer sitting on the ride and having a good time. We later decided that these shots would be appropriate as part of the outro.

Pier:

As i had previously explained, we wanted to re-shoot the base track ontop of the pier at southbank. Today was the day in which we planned to re-shoot. We decided that the last time, we left it way too late to start filming on the pier and as a result, we weren't able to get enough lighting to highlight Melia (the artist). We planned to meet at 2:30 and arrive at the pier at 3:00. this time was perfect because it was just about the time where the sun was setting and the camera became less sensitive to light, therefore the quality also improved. We managed to filming two base tracks of the pier on this day in the correct day light swell as the scene where the performer leaves the pier, and an extreme close up shot of her hand leaving the railings.

my overall impression of the success of this setting was that we managed to capture these shots perfectly. The lighting was perfect to both support the quality in visuals and performance, because it gave us enough time to settle and perform to our best. If i was to change anything, i would probably start shooting some scenes underneath the pier straight away. After filming the base tracks on top of the pier, we went underneath it, by that time the sun had completely set and it was pitch black. this made it difficult to film and the footage came out very dark and grainy. By shooting under the pier straight after the previous shoot, we still would have had enough lighting to play with and film in to get high quality footage.

Establishing shots:

We arrived at Southbank at the time 2:30. This was efficient because it gave us plenty of time to start filming any additional establishing shots. Our aim was to capture the sun light and the glare on the lens. We also wanted to filming parts on the water and those birds that tend to fly over it.
From this point we didn't run into any problems. Overall the establishing shots went really well, the only thing i am currently worrying about is the differences in lighting in our other southbank establishing shots. Even though we aimed to film around the same time frames, they were completely different days, infant they were in different weeks of filming.

How will i over come this?
I will over come this problem by the use of editing in Adobe premier Pro and After Effects. I can easily change the lighting and the colour of lighting in the footage i had filmed. If one footage looks too warm in lighting, i will increase the blue channels to cool it down. If one footage looks too cold in lighting, i will increase the red channels to warm up the lighting in the footage.
