As a student teacher, I could explain that just like their student, I am a learner in the classroom and am always open to feedback or suggestions in how I can help their child’s learning experience or success in the classroom. I can include this in the positive closing to show I want to support their student’s learning.

Remind the teacher of the Oreo method since I am not the teacher. However, should I have reason at anytime to participate in a session I will keep the beginning positive then add the constructive information and lastly, end with a positive about the student.

I will make sure that I learn students before I make calls to parents. I will give a positive first, talk about the reason for the call and then end with a positive/how I will support at school and suggestions for the parents supportive partnership at home.

I noticed I’ve been using without using that name. Starting a conference with positive feedback or experiences the kid has shown will let the meeting has a nice flow and the strategies for improvement will be understood better.

I generally use it just as is although I often close with asking the parent for their input because I want the student to be successful because I know they can.

I’d use the OREO method for the next parent-teacher meetings to make it easier to share student progress in a way that’s clear and positive. It feels like a natural way to focus on the student’s progress and strengths, making the conversation both honest and encouraging for parents.

I will take into account my students’ Learning Styles to Tailor the positive feedback and constructive criticism to fit each student's learning style. For example, some students might respond better to verbal encouragement, while others might prefer written notes they can review privately.

I will anlso emphasize growth over perfection I will shift the feedback to focus on a growth mindset, celebrating efforts and improvements rather than just results. For instance, “I noticed you put extra effort into understanding the concept. Let's build on that by working through a few more examples.”

I will use the OREO Method when communicating to parents of how their child needs support with things they are struggling with at school and starting off with positives, giving suggestions, and letting the parents know at all times they are doing a great job and their child is showing growth in areas in their learning journey. And never make the parent feel like they are not doing what they should and that their child is not teachable when they are.

I am a very open person, and I use myself, my family, stories about my personal life to teach and to allow the kids to get to know me better. I do the same thing with my families. I talk to my families about my family and about being a parent. So far, it’s definitely helped in letting guards down. I point specific personality traits in their students so they know I pay attention to who they actually are. I start each conversation with a positive personality comment on their student.
