But later on, Horace Mann wanted to change that and make education free to the public. Reformers thought education was very important because he saw education as a way of solving problems in society.&nbsp; Horace Mann was later given the nickname of "father of American public schools" because he not only founded the schools, but he gave others the opportunity on education. <br><br></div>]]></description>
