Sadly, she died 8thAugust 1909. She grew up in Melbourne, Victoria. In her family Mary was one of 8 children, her dad from Scotland married her mother, Flora, nee McDonald.

When Mary was 16 she began working for a clerk for the Sands and Kenny Stationers in Melbourne. She worked her for 2 years. She then worked as a governess looking after her cousins. Then she later became a school teacher.

Prophetic (Someone who spreads god word)- Mary spoke out about education for children who didn’t have the rights to have an education or came from a family unable to send their children to school.She also spoke out about women’s rights
Kingly (Someone who has authority) - She stood up for the rights of children and took charge to make sure that these young women got the education they deserved. She led in her life by setting this example which then created a domino effect of people who were willing to and continue to take after the footsteps of Mary.
